The Pear Blossom in Left Palace

Qiu Wei

It’s colder and fairer than snow;

Its sweet scents royal robe invade.

I pray the vernal breeze to blow

Its fragrance to the steps of jade.

“The Pear Blossom in Left Palace ” is a poem written by Qiu Wei, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. This poem expresses the poet’s hope that the monarch can know the merits of pear blossoms, which is actually the poet’s own merits, so that the poet can realize the ideal of serving the country, and expresses the positive attitude of feudal scholars to use the world. The whole poem combines the prospect of the eye and the will in the chest into one, moving and jumping without showing the traces of the axe, which is very desirable in the art.
