The Lady of Stone[1]

Sa Dula

Alone by riverside precarious she appears;

No one accompanies her but songs water sings.

The hair on her forehead uncombed for thousand years,

Her beauty remains unchanged for as many springs.

The gentle wind spreads snowflakes to powder her face;

The sun will rouge her cheeks by melting dewdrops bright.

Don’t say there is no mirror to reflect her grace!

The moon will shine on the Lady of Stone all night.

注释:

[1]According to a Chinese legend, a lady waiting for the return of her lord by the riverside turned into a statue and was called the Lady of Stone.
