Wondering thy whereabouts after farewell,
Interminable glooms within my desolate heart.
The farther thou art from me, the less thou writest me;
Whom can I inquire about thy situation that no messenger could deliver me?
Nocturnal winds are brushing the bamboo leaves,
With the interweaving rhythms of remorse and regret.
So I’m leaning on the single pillow in order to dream of thee,
However, the dream’s eventually undone as the wick burns out.
