居庸叠翠

[元]陈孚

断崖万仞如削铁,

鸟飞不度[1]苔石裂。

嵯岈[2]老树无碧柯[3],

六月太阴飞急雪。

寒沙茫茫出关道,

骆驼夜吼黄云老。

征鸿一声起长空,

风吹草低山月小。

注释:

[1]度:飞过。

[2]嵯岈:形容山峰错杂不齐的样子。

[3]碧柯:碧绿色的枝条。

The Mountain Pass

Chen Fu

Like sharp swords broken cliffs stand ten thousand feet high;

O’er mossy rocks torn asunder no birds dare fly.

Old trees have no green branch in mountains high and low;

Though summer’s at its height, in haste comes winter snow.

The way beyond the Pass with endless sand turns cold;

When camels growl at night, the yellow cloud grows old.

When wild geese cry in boundless sky o’er the Great Wall,

The breezes blow, the grass bends low, the moon seems small.
